The grieving of the Holy Spirit

Ephesians 4:30

Paul appeals to us not to grieve the Holy Spirit. We consider what the grieving of the Spirit implies (he is a person and can be pained by our conduct), how such a sin is committed (by the sins against which we are warned in this section of Paul's letter), and why such a sin is forbidden (by the Spirit God has sealed us for the day of redemption).
