The anointing of Saul

1 Samuel 9:19-10:16

In anointing him with oil the LORD, through Samuel, set Saul apart for the work of king. The anointing also symbolised the divine equipping of Saul by the Holy Spirit. We trace out parallels to this both in the anointing of Christ and the anointing of his people.
