Safeguarding

At North Preston Evangelical Church, we are committed to providing a safe, caring, and welcoming environment for everyone. We believe that every person is made in the image of God and should be treated with dignity, respect, and Christian love.

Jesus said:

"Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 19:14)

Safeguarding is the responsibility of the whole church. We are committed to promoting the welfare of children, young people, and adults at risk, protecting them from harm, and responding appropriately and promptly to any concerns that may arise.

To help achieve this, we:

  • Maintain and regularly review our safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Provide safeguarding training for those involved in children's, youth, and pastoral ministries.
  • Follow safer recruitment practices, including DBS checks where appropriate.
  • Work in partnership with parents, carers, statutory agencies, and safeguarding professionals.
  • Seek to create a church culture where concerns can be raised openly and safely.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to safeguarding concerns or allegations.

We recognise that safeguarding includes the care and protection of children, young people, and adults who may be vulnerable because of age, disability, illness, personal circumstances, or other factors. The wellbeing of those who may be experiencing or at risk of abuse, harm, or neglect is of paramount importance.
